Outer of Water is a 2D top-down puzzle adventure made for the 48-hour-long Global Game Jam at NYU Center, following the theme Bubble. The player plays as a fish who must call and control a bubble to help navigate a way out of a cave.
For this game jam project, my main goal was to make the fish and bubble sound alive and organic, while encapsulating its mechanical aspect shown from the art.
This involved creating small gusts of water waves from soft white noises with wave distortion effect on them, providing subtle delays to sounds to signify movement, and, of course, a low-pass filter to simulate the underwater environment of the game.
Work Flow
Created sfx using sound libraries and synthesizers inside FL Studio.
Composed, mixed, and mastered music tracks inside FL Studio.
Sound effects and music tracks are imported into FMOD as Events and routed into mixer tracks for better organization.
Worked with programmers to set up Github as source control for the code.
Created FMOD Events script to store all of the Events from FMOD and Audio Manager that sets up functions to call various audio cues in game.
